A native of the Adirondacks, Lisa Densmore now roams much of
the world as both freelance writer and photographer.
She is both an editorial and a fine arts photographer with a
sizeable stock photo file of flora, fauna, people, scenics,
hiking, backpacking, adventure travel and myriad of other
outdoor images. She specializes in capturing our natural
environment, favoring dramatic lighting and color. Her
images run the gamut, including broad scenics, intriguing
people, vibrant flora, fascinating fauna, and eye-catching
abstracts.
Lisa contributes to magazines as diverse as
Backpacker, Vermont Life, Women in the Outdoors and Ski
Racing International. She is the author and
photographer of 'Best
Hikes with Dogs: New Hampshire and Vermont'
(The Mountaineers Books, 2005), "50 Most Scenic Hikes
in New Hampshire" (Huntington Graphics, 2008) and "Hiking
the Green Mountains" (Falcon Guides, 2008). She is in
the middle of three additional books for Falcon Guides -
"Hiking the White Mountains", "Hiking the Adirondacks", and
"Best Easy Day Hikes - Adirondacks". Lisa's limited
edition photographs are currently represented by 8
galleries, and her line of greeting cards, Densmore Designs,
is sold in bookstores and gift shops throughout the
Northeastern United States.
Among her numerous awards and honors, the Outdoor Writers
Association of America (OWAA) has recognized a number of
Lisa's articles and images in its Excellence in Craft
Contest. She has also conducted professional seminars
for the OWAA, worked as a mentor, and created curricula for
various school districts on the use of the camera as a
learning tool for social studies, geography, computer
studies and science.
