  Workshop Registration

Contact API and speak to our Workshop Coordinator. To reserve a workshop space, a deposit will be required at the time of registration. This deposit is applied to the cost of the workshop. Payment of the balance due is required 60 days prior to the start of the workshop. API reserves the right to cancel a reservation if full payment has not been received by 60 days before the workshop begins. We suggest that you register as early as possible, as all of our workshops have limited space available and most eventually become filled.

We accept payment by check or credit card (Visa, Mastercard, Discover and American Express).

Note - Registrations received within 60 days of the start of the workshop require immediate full payment.

If a workshop becomes filled, we maintain a waiting list in case of cancellations. We recommend that you put your name on the waiting list as cancellations do happen and, due to the popularity of some workshops, it may be the only way to acquire a space.

After registering for a workshop, you can access the Registration Info Packet from the web page for the specific workshop. The packet is in downloadable PDF format.

Workshop Cost

The cost associated with our workshops is listed on the web page for the specific workshop. Unless otherwise noted, cost includes instruction only. Lodging, transportation and meals are generally not included. A deposit is required to hold a space in a workshop. Deposits (less a $50 cancellation fee) are refundable if a cancellation is received at least 60 days prior to the start of the workshop.

Discount Programs

We offer these discounts against your workshop registration fees:

  • Early registration - We will give you 10% off for registering before the early registration deadline for a workshop.

  • Alumni - We will give 10% off to those who have attended an API workshop previously.

  • Adirondack Partners - We will give 10% off to members and employees of certain Adirondack organizations. Click here to see a list of these organizations.

Note that you may only use one of these discounts per registration.

Participant Cancellation and  Refund Policy

Refunds are given under the following conditions:

  • If cancellation is received at least 60 days prior to the start of the workshop, we will refund the full workshop cost, less a $50 cancellation fee.
  • If cancellation is received less than 60 days, but at least 30 days prior to the start of the workshop, we will refund the full workshop cost, less the registration deposit.

There are no refunds given if:

  • cancellation is received within 30 days of the workshop.
  • cancellation is received after the start of the workshop.
  • the registered participant is a no-show.

API is not responsible for cancellations due to medical emergencies.

Program Cancellation

API reserves the right to cancel any program that does not meet minimum participation requirements, in which case participants will be informed as soon as possible and all money received will be refunded.  API is not responsible for any losses incurred as a result of a course cancellation.

Travel/Trip Insurance

We encourage participants to purchase refundable airline tickets and trip cancellation insurance. We recommend Travel Insurance Services for this purpose. You can learn more about their services on their website at www.travelinsure.com.

Additional Information

Lodging

In most cases participants are responsible for making their own lodging arrangements.  The suggested lodging provider is listed on the web page for each specific workshop.  Alternate lodging providers are listed here. API will provide the necessary contact information at the time of registration.

It is very important to reserve lodging as quickly as possible after registering for a workshop as accommodations in most of our workshop locations can become quite scarce as the workshop date approaches.

Meals

In most cases participants are responsible for the cost of their meals during the workshop.  We encourage workshop participants to eat as a group (with the instructor), sharing the events of the day and getting to know each other a little better, as we believe this makes for a more enjoyable and productive workshop experience.  With this in mind, we choose workshop locations that offer on-site meal facilities wherever practical. If there is a meal plan available at additional cost for your workshop, we highly recommend that you take advantage of it.

Transportation

Participants’ vehicles are used for transportation during field trips.  We will carpool when possible to minimize the number of vehicles needed for any given field trip, as well as to lessen our impact on easily damaged roads and trails.

Spouses/partners

Spouses/partners are welcome to take meals with the group and may, with permission of the instructor, go along on selected field trips as long as they don't do any shooting. Classroom sessions (including lectures, presentations, critiques, etc.) are not open to any guests.
