What to Bring

Photo Equipment Suggestions

  •  Tripod
  • Digital camera with lots of memory card storage.
  • A self-timer feature or cable release for long exposures.
  • Extra batteries
  • Flashlight or headlamp for nighttime photography sessions

You may also want to bring a film camera to photograph the landscape at night. Mark prefers Fuji Velvia 100, Fuji Provia 100F, and Provia 400F film for night-time shooting.

Computer Equipment Suggestions

We highly recommend bringing your own laptop computer for downloading, processing and viewing your images. If you borrow a laptop, make sure that you are familiar with its use.

Good choices for image processing software include Adobe Lightroom, Elements, Photoshop or Apple Aperture. Free 30-day trials of these programs are available on the manufacturers' websites.

Clothing Suggestions

Appropriate layers of winter clothing for both day and night photography. Warm
gloves or mittens, and footwear. Dress for the indoor sessions will be casual.

Other

Mark will lead an image analysis session featuring participants’ past work. Please bring one unprocessed image stored on a flash drive or CD. In a live demonstration, Mark will analyze the image and make recommendations for processing it for maximum impact.
