Overview   Winter in the Adirondacks is a beautiful, magical time. Snow quiets and simplifies the landscape, accentuating lines and form. Photographing it requires special attention to composition and exposure. Through both indoor instructional sessions and outdoor field sessions, we’ll explore strategies to take advantage of different lighting conditions, and compositional and digital techniques to create expressive wintertime images that resonate with emotional impact and meaning. Weather permitting, Mark will lead a nighttime field session, demonstrating tips and techniques to capture diverse and otherworldly images of this little-explored facet of the Adirondack landscape. Possible field destinations include the Fulton Chain of Lakes and nearby woods, Old Forge, Raquette Lake, and Buttermilk Falls.
Digital capture offers photographers more creative possibilities than ever before. It also requires a new workflow, so our indoor sessions will cover digital cameras and features, efficient image database management, RAW conversion and image optimization in Photoshop, storage and retrieval, and innovative ways to present your work. Indoor sessions will be held at the Woods Inn in Inlet.
