Overview |
|
Picture the essence of
being. A glance in the mirror of your true nature. A
communication of your most personal response to your
surroundings. Feelings come alive again with every look; a
return to the moment in-total. This is the Intimate Image. |
|
As children we saw a world of wonder. We found out for
ourselves, aware of no barriers to our curiosity. The world
reflected our inner light. As we became older and “wiser” we
began to accept the reasoning of others in lieu of our own
experience. We sorted and cataloged until all was explained. Our
picture of the world became set. |
|
This workshop
teaches you how to release your
conditioned worldview and reacquire your child’s eye. You'll learn
how to break through the barriers that prevent you from really
seeing. And, you work to incorporate the totality of your sensations
into your images, so that you may express the intimate.
|
You will
learn to:
-
see
things you’ve never seen before
-
break
through your preconceptions into new realms of possibility
-
make
images that embody the totality of your experience
-
open
yourself to an uncluttered awareness
-
rediscover a child’s sense of awe
|
|
The workshop consists of digital presentations, discussions,
and exercises John has designed to encourage
participants to look at their surroundings with eyes
uncluttered by old preconceptions, opening the door for
nature's essence to take center-stage in their images.
Handouts are provided to supplement the presentations.
Participants will take part in group-critique of their
work, in a supportive and constructive atmosphere. |
|
Schedule |
|
Weather-permitting, participants
will typically shoot for several hours around sunrise
and sunset, during the best light of the day. |
|
|
|
Afternoons are generally used
for presentations, critique and discussions. However, if
exceptional lighting conditions present themselves the
instructor may opt to shoot during the afternoon also. |
